Choosing The Right Length Wedding Dress

Short tea length wedding dresses, especially those with full skirts and petticoats are often referred to as a Fifties style wedding dress, but each length does have a defined name:

How long are tea-length wedding dresses?
Tea Length dresses fall below the knee and above the ankle. Typically Tea Length wedding dress are designed with either a full circle skirt or a flattering A-line shape, with plenty of layering; made up of petticoats to help achieve plenty of movement. (Perfect for twirling around in)

Ballerina Length Wedding Dresses

How long are Ballerina length wedding dresses?
Ballerina length wedding dresses are often miscalled Tea Length, but anything that falls between ankle length and just off the ground is actually classed as Ballerina. Ballerina length wedding dresses are slightly more demure and traditional than Tea Length, but offer just as much movement and are ideal for showing off your statement shoes!

Shorter Length Wedding Dresses

Whilst both Tea Length and Ballerina dresses are classed as short, anything above the knee doesn't fall into these categories, so these are just referred to as short. This is the perfect option for the bride that wants to show a bit more leg or a petite bride that doesn’t want to feel overcome by tulle

Will My Height Make A Difference To Which Length Wedding Dress I Should Choose?

Most FairyGothMother bridal gowns can be made to order in a choice of length. What is Ballerina length on one bride might be full length on another, so whilst the above is a good guideline - don't be worried that your height will need to affect your choice in length! We have a range of lengths in store - and whilst we can't carry samples of each dress in every length, we can establish which length you prefer and put in a custom order in your chosen style.
